JOB DEMANDS Assessment / Job Analysis

The Worksite Assessment or Job Analysis assesses the physical demands of an entire role, part of a role, or a particular task. The physical demands are documented to provide all involved parties a clear, objective understanding of the demands of a role. These assessments can be an evaluation of all physical demands within the role to provide an overview of the total demands of a role or task. Alternatively (or additionally), the assessment can be focussed on injury-specific or body-area specific considerations if, for example, being used to assist an injured worker determine the most appropriate approach to a return to work following an injury.

As a preventative tool, these assessments can identify areas of high demand within a role or task that may benefit from further investigation or modification to reduce the physical demands and potentially reduce the risk of injury.

If being undertaken to assist an injured employee returning to work, the Worksite Assessment or Job Analysis report can incorporate detailed recommendations regarding the most appropriate starting point for suitable duties to commence the return to work process at, and step through the progression of the inclusion of duties at the appropriate stage of a workers recovery from injury to assist with the rehabilitation process. This will significantly simplify the return to work process by clearly outlining a recommended path for the rehabilitating worker to follow in progressing from light or alternative duties in the initial stage of the return to work process to full pre-injury duties via the workplace rehabilitation experience. Additionally, recommendations relating to equipment provision can be provided or further beneficial service provision (such as back care education or manual task / manual handling education) may be identified and fed back to the referrer for consideration.

These services can be provided to assist with rehabilitation from both physical and psychological injuries.
