Alyssa Lillee is an accredited Occupational Therapist who has worked in mental health for over 25 years in a variety of clinical and academic settings. 

Alyssa completed a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) at Murdoch University in 1993 and Bachelor of Science (Occupational Therapy) at Curtin University, Western Australia in 1997.

Alyssa is a member of OT Australia and the World Federation of Occupational Therapy (WFOT), and is an EMDR Accredited Practitioner and EMDR Accredited Consultant (EMDRAA). Alyssa has worked within the fields of workers’ compensation system, disability, public and private mental health and psychiatric clinical research and academia. Alyssa also provides clinical supervision and mentoring for other mental health clinicians.

Alyssa’s particular interest is the impact of trauma on mental health, wellbeing and recovery, understanding the impact trauma can have in many different aspects of life. Alyssa is experienced in the areas of Childhood trauma, cPTSD/PTSD, Anxiety, Adjustment disorder, Grief and Loss, Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and trauma with First Responders and Military, and in providing EAP services.

 Alyssa has undergone specialist training in:

·         Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

·         Schema Therapy

·         Image Rescripting

·         Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE)

·         Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

·         Occupational Role Performance and Balance

·         PTSD and the military

 

Alyssa works alongside her clients in a warm, respectful and supportive manner. She is passionate that those who have experienced trauma or distress receive treatment that is holistic and internationally accepted as best practice.

In conjunction with Alyssa’s clinical experience, her academic and clinical based research has focused on the development and evaluation of clinically appropriate assessment and program evaluation instruments, the evaluation of the mental health of recently arrived refugees, the evaluation of services for survivors of torture and trauma and the impact of psychological trauma on mental health conditions and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

 Alyssa has conducted numerous presentations of her clinical research at University Lectures, workshops and International Conferences.
